Who Are We? The Humans Who Make This Possible
Share
In this post, I talk about who "we" are, explain why I prefer to use collective language in most of our content, and give some special thanks to some friends and family who have been instrumental in getting Critical Element Designs to go from an idea, to an actual functioning website, business, and brand.
First of all, you may have already figured out that the bulk of the brand effort, website building, and shirt design is done by me, Donovan. Why then, do I choose to use language like "we" and "us" when referring to the brand? Well, the reason is that this brand wouldn't exist without the advice, encouragement, and emotional support of my family and close friends. When I think about the brand, I think about all of the unique and wonderful people who have contributed to my life with friendship and acceptance, ultimately helping me become the person who I am today.
From my wonderful wife, Michelle, who always laughs at my jokes and makes me feel capable of anything, to my good friend Ryanne Levin who has helped me so much with branding and business setup, and is probably the most talented artist I've ever met (seriously, check out https://ryannelevin.com), I have had supportive people at my side from the start. A couple friends helped me out with test orders early on (thanks Jen & Chelo), others liked, shared or followed on social media, others have shared some ideas for shirt designs. I have been helped and supported at every step of the way and have never felt alone in this journey, and for that I am so very thankful.
At the time of writing this, Critical Element Designs has a lot of room to grow, and it will probably be a while before I can call it a success financially, but if I get nothing else from this adventure, I know that I have a close circle of wonderful and supportive friends & family who will be there for me, even when I randomly decide to start a nerdy t-shirt brand.
The best and strongest friendships and relationships are born of authenticity, and my support group is no different. As human beings we are the sum of our experiences, impacted & influenced by those around us. This is why I choose to use the royal we for Critical Element Designs as a brand, because even when it's just me on the keyboard, I am never alone.
Thanks for reading.
